From the Lift
Hay que Endurecerse

Hay que endurecerse — you have to toughen up. My grandmother said it so often it stopped being advice and became weather.
I painted it into a facade that faces the coldest wind in the city, half as a joke, half as a promise. The colours are warm on purpose. Toughness, she also taught me, is not the same as being cold.
Up on the lift with the wind doing its work, I understood the phrase better than I had in years.
